Sridhar Vembu – Technical Knowledge:
Many of us don’t know that Sridhar Vembu is one of the greatests in his technical works too. Vembu’s academic process was very good from his childhood. He got 27th rank in the IIT JEE, using which he did Electrical Engineering Course at IIT Madras. In 1994 itself, Vembu joined Qualcomm as a wireless systems engineer in San Diego, California. I think these are more than enough to describe his technical skills.
AI and R&D:
As we all know, AI is creating a major impact in every industry especially software industry, it is really important to keep up with that. So, Sridhar in his twitter account said that, “Considering various challenges and the major developments in AI happening around the world, it is best to focus fully on R&D initiatives”.
Personal Rural Development Mission
He also mentioned that he will also be going to focus more on pursuing his rural development mission. Sridhar is highly known for his rural development mission and it is very happy to see that he is gonna focus fully on that which can make a greater impact among rural areas.
New Role – Chief Scientist
Above are the reasons for his decision of stepping down as CEO of Zoho Corp. In a nutshell, he is going to focus more on R&D and rural development mission. He has taken a new role of Chief Scientist from Jan 27, 2025 and new CEOs have arrived.

Sridhar expresses his happiness
At last, he said that the future of ZOHO depends mainly on how well they navigate the R&D and he is looking forward for the challenge with energy and eager. Also, he expressed his happiness towards coming back to hands on technical works which he loves the most.
